Second on our list of affordable San Antonio suburbs is Devine, where homes are about $60K less than in San Antonio. It’s a 40-minute drive into San Antonio, but there’s still plenty to do in Devine. Once living in this town, make sure to check out Devine City Park or play a round of golf at Devine Golf Course.
#3: Kirby (tie)
Kirby is just a little more expensive than Devine and ties Jourdanton as the third most affordable suburb. Only 15 minutes from the city center you’ll be exploring The Alamo in just a quick drive. Tying the third spot with Kirby is the San Antonio suburb of Jourdanton. About 50 minutes south of San Antonio, there’s plenty to check out in this quaint suburb. Once living here, spend the day at Jourdanton City Park or grab some local Mexican food.
25 minutes outside of San Antonio, you’ll find the suburb of Elmendorf. Even with a population of about 2,500, there are plenty of fun things to do in Elmendorf. A little more expensive than Elmendorf is none other than Poteet. About 3,500 people live in this San Antonio suburb, where you’ll find Poteet Canyon Park. Only 35 away from downtown San Antonio, you can easily plan an evening in the city, whether you’re looking to try a new restaurant or see a show.

Home to 1,500 residents, consider adding Von Ormy to your list of San Antonio suburbs to check out. About a 20-minute drive into the city, this affordable town can be a great choice for people looking to remain close to San Antonio without paying the price for a home in the city.
