Do you ever think of the one house that got away?

 In RealEstate

Because I do, all the time, and how much different our lives would be if we just pushed a little more at the time back in 2020. I probably think about it in an unhealthy amount.

Instead of trying to push for $13k more for a nicer, 5 bedroom house in the Seattle area, we opted for a 3 bedroom house in an area closer to our friends. That 5 bedroom house is now worth $300-400k more than that 3 bedroom house. We wouldn’t have ever moved or felt the need to, as it was adequate size and a great area, but at the time, that $13k forced us into Jumbo Loan territory which made the payment more than we felt we could chew at the time. I really wanted to push for it, but my partner convinced me that it wasn’t worth it at the time.

Fast-forward to today, our family grew out of that 3 bedroom real quick, we ended up moving across the country to get the house size that we wanted closer to family, but I can’t help but think about that house and if we landed on it, what could have been.
