First Time Home Owner Disaster

 In RealEstate

This happened in Illinois. So my wife and I are first time home buyers. We closed on a house on Wednesday but issues started Tuesday when we did the final walk through. The sellers were not prepared to leave. They actually didnt leave the house until Thursday morning. Wednesday about 5 hours after closing I went to get the keys and garage door openers for the house and surprise, sellers still werent completely moved out. In fact they still had as much crap left as when we did the final walk through the night before. So I left my realtor know and took some pictures and sent them to him. He fired off an email to the sellers agent and lawyer. Finally Thursday morning they were gone supposedly.

Come to today Monday it was our first time going to the house after the sellers left and low and behold the amount of crap they left behind and it was in ever room. They even left a queen size bed in one of the rooms. They left crap in cabinets all through out the house. They over filled the garbage cans and didnt even set them out for the garbage people to come and get them. So it will take about 10-12 hrs of work for me and my wife to completely get rid of all the crap they left behind and we will have to rent a dumpster or something cause it is alot. I took 35 pics and sent them to my realtor and lawyer as well as the sellers realtor and lawyer.

So my question – In reality what are the chances I can get some compensation from the sellers for the condition they left the house in. This was not disclosed anywhere in any documents nor were we told after they had left. Its so aggravating and disheartening as a first time home buyer to see this happen. Even my realtor was like “wtf did they do to us”. So just looking for some likely outcomes and if I can take any legal action.
