Mortgage Assistance Event for Service Members & Veterans

 In Uncategorized
This free event in San Antonio will allow service members and veterans who are homeowners the opportunity to review their options, learn about re-financing options and possible alternatives to foreclosure, or meet with counselors to analyze their current financial situation.

HOPE NOW, the voluntary, private sector alliance of mortgage servicers, investors, mortgage insurers and non-profit counselors, is bringing several of the largest mortgage servicers to San Antonio, on August 17, 2013, in order to work one on one with all military homeowners, Department of Defense employees and veterans seeking mortgage assistance or financial guidance.  Co-sponsors for this special event include American GI Forum-National Veterans Outreach Program, Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater San Antonio. CredAbility, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Military Warriors Support Foundation, Neighborhood Housing Services of San Antonio, Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation and Veterans Plus.

A full range of services will also be offered in addition to mortgage assistance. These include credit management, financial services, utility/food/gas issues, landlord/tenant issues, money management/budgeting and counseling support.

Mortgage servicers participating include Bank of America, Chase, Citi, Nationstar, Ocwen, US Bank and Wells Fargo.  Additionally representatives from all sponsoring organizations, plus Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Business & Lenders of Texas and US Department of Labor will be on site.

Government employees facing furloughs as a result of the Federal sequestration are encouraged to attend to receive comprehensive financial counseling.

“We are pleased that so many local organizations, dedicated to the well-being of our nation’s Service Members, have helped us plan this event. With issues such as Permanent Change of Station and the recent Federal sequestration sending a ripple effect throughout the nation’s military and government employees, a whole new set of financial challenges exists, especially for those employees facing furloughs. Our members are ready to assist these families and help them understand their options in maintaining their financial fitness during these tough times. I encourage all active military, veterans and civilian base employees in the area to take advantage of this free, face to face opportunity,” said Eric Selk, Executive Director of HOPE NOW.
