Why Texas REALTORS® filled the Capitol this week
More than 2,500 Texas REALTORS®—a record number of attendees—were in Austin on April 4 for REALTOR® Day at the Texas Capitol.
Why this event is so important
REALTOR® Day at the Texas Capitol is the cornerstone of TAR’s grassroots advocacy efforts.
This day-long event provides an opportunity for lawmakers to meet with REALTORS® from their home districts to discuss issues that are critical to Texas real estate.
Issues on the agenda
TAR’s top issues for the 85th Texas Legislature include reforming the property-tax process to add honesty and transparency to the local tax-rate setting process, maintaining the current title insurance system, and modernizing the home-equity lending process in the Texas Constitution.
REALTORS® also discussed legislation related to rental regulation, transportation network companies, eminent domain, the Texas Real Estate Commission, and election transparency.
