You’re Invited: Symposium on Race and Real Estate

In Redfin and Our CEO, Redfin News

As Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman announced in his Wednesday keynote at Inman Connect, we’re hosting a symposium on race and real estate in our Seattle office on September 6. Our goal is to learn how we at Redfin can do better to serve people of color, but we also have room at the office to offer a limited number of seats to the public. Please register here!

The featured speaker will be Professor Elizabeth Korver-Glenn, who spent a year following ten real estate agents of different races as they recruited customers and put together deals, to see why people of color sometimes struggled to break into Houston’s most exclusive neighborhoods. We’ve summarized her groundbreaking research on this blog.

We’ll also hear from a panel of homebuyers and a panel of agents about their real estate experiences as people of color. Inman News will stream a video of the event to the web. Attendees are welcome to join us afterwards for lunch. The event is free, but since space is limited, please only sign up if you can commit to come.

Here’s the agenda:

12:30 – 1:15: Professor Korver-Glenn discusses her research

1:15 – 1:30: Break

1:30 – 2:00: Panel with three homebuyers of color

2:00 – 2:30: Panel with three Redfin agents of color

2:30 – 3:30: Networking and snacks

We hope to see you there!
