If you look beyond the turkey and trimmings, the parades and football games, gratitude is at the heart of the Thanksgiving celebration. And as I pause to count my blessings, it’s essential that I give thanks to you, the REALTOR® Community, and to this profession – a vocation that is so much more than just a job.
Serving as your 2018 President is the opportunity of a lifetime, and I want to say thank you, today and every day, for affording me this opportunity. In our calling to safeguard the American Dream of property ownership, tremendous responsibility stands before us. Today is about celebrating meaningful memories and time-lasting traditions. Whether you are traveling home, or spending time under your own roof, Thanksgiving is about being grateful for those we hold closest to our hearts.
As real estate professionals, many of us spend so much of our lives in homes, but how much of that time is spent in our own home? Helping a family find the perfect house, or a business owner secure the ideal workspace, our profession is a labor of love – a joy that extends far beyond a paycheck. However, in this season of thanksgiving, it is our time to savor the joys found in our own homes and in the homes of our family and friends.
This has been a tough year for many Americans; Mother Nature has been particularly cruel in the last couple of months. Devastation has been enormous – catastrophic in places – and it certainly has an impact on local housing markets. For those REALTORS® directly affected by the wildfires, hurricanes, and flooding that have plagued communities, we hold you close to our hearts during this holiday season. And for those REALTORS® who have reached out to our neighbors in need, we thank you! It has been incredible to see the unbelievable generosity and heart REALTORS® have demonstrated following these recent natural disasters.
In this season of thanksgiving, the National Association of REALTORS® is thankful for you – our REALTOR® friends and family, who, every day, go above and beyond serving our neighbors and building brighter communities.
