It feels weird to not give a crap about owning a home anymore

I’ve been obsessed with buying a home for the last 3 years, basically since I graduated college. I left school with a lot of debt and paid a good bit down while also saving 60k for a down payment.

The price increases in these 3 years coupled with interest rates have decimated my home buying ability. I’d be stuck paying almost twice as much as my rent to own a home. I do acknowledge that there are plenty of reasons to own a place even if it costs more, but I’m just not willing to be completely house poor right now. Maybe I’ll reevaluate in the future.

The insane prices have made giving up on owning a place really easy and honestly, it feels like a huge relief to not care anymore. After having been so focused on home ownership as a crowning achievement of my adult life, it feels weird to be so indifferent towards it. But I’m starting to embrace not giving a damn about it.
